Why we have the BEST governmental officials working for us here in the Land of Lincoln. ;) They are only looking out for OUR best interests you know. This place could be CRAWLING with scorpions and it would still be better than Illinois.

From my reading, it appears the absolute best defense against scorpions we already have ... free ranging chickens! They scratch up the dirt and love, love, LOVE scorpions. Our house is slightly elevated on poles and the chickens get up under there and poke around looking for creepy crawlies. I love it!Ernesthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12740451675011962605noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4322973801467331651.post-60244031129482834062012-04-30T09:48:24.430-05:002012-04-30T09:48:24.430-05:00I too share your distaste for scorpions but alas i...I too share your distaste for scorpions but alas in the AZ desert they are as common as rattlesnakes (another non-favorite of mine).

However, after being awakened one night by the cat because there was scorpion on the wall above my bed, I found out that cats are basically immune to thier venom. My two cats think they are protien snacks.

Moral of the story, put a cat inside the house, if there's a scorpion, the cat will find it and think it's a toy and you'll be alerted to it.Bluesgalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13722493533496989003noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4322973801467331651.post-21827849378065451392012-04-30T08:09:48.615-05:002012-04-30T08:09:48.615-05:00OK, live time mid-west "northerner" here...OK, live time mid-west "northerner" here...so no clue on "desert bugs". BUT....is there a natural predator to scorpions? I know geese and other such birds eat lots of nasty bugs. I don't usually mind bugs, as long as they can't hurt me.....scorpions would get me climbing the walls!OD from HThttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14208706956075530013noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4322973801467331651.post-91547722305723087232012-04-30T06:12:03.666-05:002012-04-30T06:12:03.666-05:00I'd have been headed back North with the first...I'd have been headed back North with the first sightings of a scorpion! I ...ok I have yet commented on your blog as of yet. I really enjoy it. I'm from North Central Texas and I can understand a lot of what you and your family are going threw. As far as bugs use deet. Yes I know it causes cancer. I am a former Army Airborne Ranger. But it is better to die a slow death late in life than a quick one of the wife killing you because of bugs. BAhahahaha. On a serious side I love the Christian mood you have on this blog and I use it as a point of inspiration. Thank youJaddajhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18442151629009977271noreply@blogger.com
