Missing Bunker Index Today

You may have noticed we didn't get a BI done today. I powered through the ridiculously long drive back from Abilene so I didn't have any time to sit down and compile anything.

As a quick aside, it doesn't look like the world fell apart too terribly while I was out in West Texas. The stock market has plummeted and so has gold and silver. I was listening to one radio host in the truck on the way back and he stated that it was because all the stock players are getting margin calls and having to dump their gold and silver. So a lot of selling going on.

As an update on our off-grid plans, we bought the land. We don't close until Mid-October and there's dozens of things that can go wrong between now and then, as those of you who have purchased property in the past well know, but God has led us with ease through every step and every obstacle has been soundly beaten before we even had time to stress from it.

Congrats on the property purchase! Unfortunately for those of us in Illinois as we are losing a wealth of valuable homesteading knowledge when we lose you and your family.:(

Well done... Plans into reality...

Is it raw land, i.e. no building or improvements? Pioneering it then? Excellent... Start off off grid and stay that way...

It's pretty raw. No improvements. There is a fence on 1, maybe 2 sides.

Forerunner and I intend to go down in late October and we'll build a small cabin. We're going to have to hook up to rural water at first. I don't have time to dig a well and we're also not sure where on the property we wish to build our permanent home. But it has access to rural water and electricity so we can use that as a bridge-gap measure if needed. There's not really a need for electrical though as we have some means of production already.

Ultimately I expect to have at least 4 sources of available water by the end of next year. In that part of Texas, water is life and wealth. I've already started cracking down on the water discipline around our house to help prepare.
