Well, Forerunner and Dennis have been returned to where they belong and I'm back home after 36 hours on the road. Looks like a couple of my chickens didn't survive the trip. Poor gals. There's no good way to transport chickens 1200 miles.
Tomorrow I'm going to take it relatively easy and spend the day finishing the new chicken coop and cleaning up the cabin site. I also need to put a latch on our back door. We can also begin transitioning into the cabin tomorrow. There's still many things we will have to rely on the RV for (electricity, plumbing, heating, cooking) but as I get those things inside the cabin then we become just one more step forward.
Almost all of the big things are accomplished at this point. I'm staring around in amazement. God has really been good to us and provided everything we needed, from the skilled labor where we lacked, to the monetary resources, to the time we needed to complete the project. What a blessing!
On Monday I'm going to resume the regular Bunker Index, but I'll still be talking about the cabin, Texas, homesteading, and off-grid living! Stay tuned!

Glad to hear you've completed the cabin and are getting things going on your new homestead. We do have an awesome GOD, PTL!!!
I feel like such a slacker compared to what you all have accomplished in such a short amount of time. I've been sick since Dec. 21st and haven't completed making my Christmas gifts yet. ;) Oh well, it just extends the holidays for most people on my list this year.

I only did it because it had to be done. :) I'm looking forward to some rest, but there's not really any on the horizon. I guess I'll have to settle for a slower pace of work!

Isn't a slower pace of work relaxing? Ha ha., it sure seems that way anymore at least.
Dyson - I've reworked my water solution slightly to add a "roof cleaner". This wasn't something I'd originally planned on doing, but I visited Michael Bunker's homestead yesterday morning and saw how his work. It's a simple and elegant design that won't take hardly any effort or additional cost. I'll post pictures this weeked of how it works if I can get it finished (Lord willing!)
Trouble - I had to take Forerunner back home to Illinois. We were blessed to have his carpentry skills along with us for this journey and much of what I'd intended would have become a rather ramshackle affair without his help.
Pics coming soon! I'm giving my wife a few days to get things sorted out and swept out so the place looks a little more like home and a little less like a giant plywood box. :)
