QUERY: Banning Books

An outbreak of civil violence occurs in the United States in the next couple of months. Using the violence for its own ends, the government in Washington suspends the Constitution and establishes a totalitarian dictatorship over the people "for the indefinite future".

They begin banning specific books which speak of freedom and independence.

Who would be the authors and which book titles would be most likely to be banned?

If I wrote a book, I'd like it to get on the banned list, nothing like free publicity. I don't think you have to ban a book to keep the general population from reading it. Look which books are being talked about right now: Twilight, 50 Shades of Grey - all one has to do to advance one's nefarious ends is keep crap like that at the forefront of the public consciousness. Sticking something philosophical or thoughtful on a banned books list might be the only way to get it read.

1984, Fahrenheit 451, everything written by Patrick Henry, Thomas Jefferson, the Anti-Federalists, and probably Benjamin Franklin as well, because we wouldn't want a rebirth of Common Sense.

The Holy Bible might make the banned list.
